Nature Connection

Nature as a pathway to everyday wellbeing

Spending time in nature is one of the simplest and most effective ways to support wellbeing. Research shows that nature connection can reduce stress, improve focus, and restore balance. Beyond these benefits, connecting with the natural world helps us feel more grounded and present in our daily lives. Whether it’s noticing seasonal changes, listening to birdsong, or sitting quietly under a tree, small moments of awareness can make a big difference.

At VistaArt Therapies, nature connection is woven into creative practices such as ecoart therapy and nature journalling. These immersive experiences allow you to explore creativity while fostering a deeper appreciation for nature.

EcoArt Therapy

EcoArt therapy combines art therapy with nature connection and can facilitate and heighten pathways to connecting to self. It is a rich and growing field that blends creative expression with nature-based connection. It offers ways for people to use artmaking in natural settings or with natural materials to support healing, insight, and wellbeing. EcoArt Therapy supports wellbeing through connection (to self, others, and the environment) and helps with stress reduction, mindfulness, and grounding. It also encourages sustainability and ecological awareness by deepening relationship with the natural world.See our Events page for upcoming and past workshops

Nature Journalling

Nature Journalling is the practice of observing nature closely and recording your observations in a journal using a mix of words, sketches, numbers, and sometimes colour. It is primarily about curiosity, learning, and deepening connection with the natural world and it enhances mindfulness and being in the present.

Both EcoArt therapy and Nature Journalling deepen our connection with nature, slow us down, and use creativity. The big distinction is that Nature Journalling is about noticing the world outside you, while EcoArt therapy uses nature to also explore the world inside you.
